OMG - They Blocked Me!

Why we need to stop worrying about pissing people off with our social media commentary and start being even more visible with our brands.

SOMEONE blocked me. Just this week. And it wasn’t even on Facebook. It was on LinkedIn!

I wasn’t being overly controversial. I wasn’t even kicking the apple cart that much. I was talking about the channel, on the channel, and encouraging more people to step up and be seen.

Enter the self-proclaimed ‘social media expert’.

I’m not going to do the naming and shaming thang here (not my style and, anyway, it’s totally irrelevant). Suffice to say, this guy had been attempting to goad me for months and, until this week, I’d been a good little angel and put up with his digs in good humour.

However, this time, he waded in with a really negative vibe and started handing out ‘advice’ that was just plain wrong.

On a thread filled with positive discussion, with regular users encouraging those business people who’d previously been a bit too shy to post, this guy started spouting really discouraging nonsense.

I responded, politely.

He responded by poking and digging and telling the world how wrong I was.
